A modest crowd showed up last night at the Jupiter Motel to view the Red Bull video under a clear sky on a perfect Portland night. The film was a good view and a great documentary of the Red Bull Rampage event. Lots of interviews with riders that help the viewer get inside the head of the contestants. Plenty of big airs and lots of big spills. Andreu Lacondeguy was on hand to hang with the crowd of viewers, fresh off his “best trick” win at Crankworx.
The atmosphere was very unlike most Red Bull events. Perhaps the economy has hit Red Bull as hard as it has hit everyone else. There were no Red Bull girls (generally a staple of any event), and no caffeinated energy filled cans of goodness thrown out to the crowd.
All in all a great time watching a good film with friends on a summer night. Thanks for having a Portland stop on the tour!
